You were nearly there and spotted the clues. As Pete guessed, it is "Half Safe", a much modified Ford GPA which Ben Carlin took around the world in the 1950's. The photo was taken when I had the opportunity of a quick ride on it, at Corowa in 1999.

I will have to find a more obscure one.
