Funny you should say that, i was comparing my Mk1 Pig with a C15TA that had been converted to a timber tractor, armoured cab with a crane on the rear.
When you see pictures of them together when new they are very similar, and the prototype Pig had a stepped rear wing box, which looks identical to the C15's.

Default Pig vs GS truck

Can anyone explain why the Pig (weighing in at 2 ton + over the original Humber truck) had a slightly higher road speed, with almost the same fuel consumption??? Or is this just another miracle of Pommy engineering. Even allowing for increased tyre size and ratio changes this seems unusual, especially considering that the Piggy had a rated climb angle of 45dg, compared to 33dg??
Wonder what would happen if this set up was used on the original GS truck....
Figures taken from Pat Wares "In National Service"
Also found out that there really was a "Flying Pig" version....live and learn.
Do the Dinky versions come with thir own little oil leaks? How cute would that be?
