Default 1918 axle- what does it suit?

Found this axle last weekend, it had wooden spoke wheels, brass axle nut cover stamped CSS 1918. There were other stampings but did not take notice.

What does it suit?

The owner is willing to sell, he is a wheeler & dealer, unsure of price.

Default Similar wheels are used on the 15pdr BL from 1898

The pic shows the remains of one hub, with only one side of the spoke holders (felloes?)
The second pic is from the Woolwich Arsenal site.

We have started work on the limber, and the gun will follow.
I plan to visit the two British survivors of the type this July.
