Surely you are correct, Adrian. The pre focus has an "ed" on it as in "pre-focused" the bulbs with flanges are "pre focused". The older style that you adjusted were just..... terrible lights. Now all you need Andrew is to work out which ones dip left and which ones dip right. Hopefully the American ones are not sold here.

Very true. I was forgetting that part of the puzzle when I made my suggestions although it is my feeling that all lights of the era were poor compared to the better modern lights. (Though there are plenty of overpriced and underperforming modern lights too.)

Default Dip to the left or Right

Is it not true that a bulb is a bulb, and the dip left and dip right is corrected by the actual glass lens? . I always noted that CMP lights that turned up here in New Zealand, had for "Export" engraved in them , because we drive on the correct side of the road....and not the wrong side like the American's do.
