Apparently the RAF had put in a formal request to have the Lanc appear in Britain. The CWH group put forward their proposition as far as cost went and it was up to the RAF to come up with funding by a certain date, which they did not meet.
It is unfortunate but reality I suppose.
Probably too, the risks of two Atlantic crossings. Even ignoring them, the wear from same on those old engines is pretty scary. All the same, it would have been nice to see a couple of them in the air at one time...
