No offense but a cracked and repaired block is still a cracked and repaired block.
I can guarantee that you will not rebuild a jeep engine for anywhere near $1000. The hot tanking, magnaflux and machine work alone will cost that and then add the price of parts. Last time I checked a rebuilt short block was around $3000 plus... A friend of mine tears down Ford flahead V8s for something to do and looks them over before deciding on sending them out for cleaning and magnaflux. He usually has an average of leas than 50% that come back useable. This after all his labour involved in the teardown. He tells me that it is a couple hundred bucks gambled eaxh and every time he sends one out.
