So just to follow on from your great answer Andrew, I assume that with the lead plugs that are on the wrong side (in the few links) that those links have been modified in some way because the pin can only come out the lead plug side, and the hole in the other end is too small for the standard lead plug.(it's only there to allow the (small dia.) track pin punch, to punch the pin out. There is no groove for the lead plug to be expanded into.
