Today on the way to the Corowa meet I called in to Tim Viberts - always stocked with treasures I cannot seem to live without - business.
Tim was excited to show me his immaculate Mk3 centurion which has recently had an extensive makeover and a brand new power pack fitted. Nothing unusual about that for the man who is a near living legend when it comes to rebuilding Centurion Tanks. The remarkable things about this tank were: It is in immaculate Mk3 battle or show worthy condition inside and out and Tim tells me it started out as a 1940's (I'm sorry I can't recall the details) Mk2 Centurion ! Could it be the oldest operational Centurion in captivity ? This beautiful machine is now sporting side plates etc and in deep bronze green looks simply stunning. Yes it is currently for sale to a genuine collector and Yes I am seriously tempted to go back into heavy armour having seen Tim's latest restoration. (I used to own and drive 169-129 Armageddon) My point is that anyone in Australia seriously contemplating investing in a Centurion should not miss out on this one. I apologise for neglecting to take any pics - such was my excitement ![]() cheers Phill
