crikey ! Shaun has hit the nail on the head... full strip down or as they say over here a "Nut and Bolt rebuild" credit to you Lynn.....bring it back to life !

Shaun i have agreement with some of the comments on that thread in that VOSA and DVLA have been of great help to me. I agree what you post should be worded carefully so not to be taken out of context as it were.

Very true about what you post, there was a big discussion on HMVF concerning road registering tracked vehicles, the regulations were dug into in great detail and rather unfortunately it transpired that it wasn't possible to use any of the fxxxx (won't say which types) vehicles on the road because of there width! Plenty are already registered, so it all went quite after that
I suppose it all revolves around IF you want to run your vehicle on the public road or not, if you don't want to then it's ground pressure, width etc become academic in all honesty.

There have been quite a few posts pulled over the years on Various mv forums, each time they have been of projects undertaken by dealers / big collectors who presumably got uncomfortable about people showing how they were modifying post war vehicles to fit ww2 spec and how much of the armoured vehicle was 'new metal'. The only reason not to be honest about what you are doing is if you intend to hide the fact when you come to exhibit and subsequently sell the machine.

many of you prob already know i made a mk1 hull from new but when it was sold it was sold as a repo with original parts if the chap who owns it now regesters it as a 1941 thats up to him all i was doing was saving a carrier as the hull was too far gone.

if your open and honest about what you have whats it matter but the problem starts when you loose site of this and start to sell things for money or start to claim things are not what they are!

I am pleased with my carrier i know when people say how much is original or new and you say - NEW floor, frames, top armour, linkages, seats tanks, bulkhead, track guards ,wings , engine covers yep pritty much all the bits bar the lower hull dash and running gear but what is important to me and me alone is i have built it from the ground up and its mine! i bet you you carnt tell if you put it next to a so called original so my question is any vehicle out there a so called original !!!!

keep history alive whats it matter how you do it !
