that would be pretty cool, tell you what would be fantastic but a total pipe dream i might add........ carrier display team at the edinburgh tatoo a full section of carriers flying about the arena flying huge flags off the engine decks (British, Canadian, Australian, Newzealand, etc etc) doing a display along the lines of the red arrows (much simpler routine of course) hahahaha

then finish off with a reinactment of Havildar Parkash Singh's rescue which earned him his VC when his fellow soldiers came under heavy fire and he drove his carrier into a hail of bullets to save them.......then returned for the carriers (on his own)

not that i have given this much thought at all

Our own Nigel Watson has had his carrier there in that role, already.

I even got to ride in my carrier during one of the shows. I had to train drivers as I was permitted to drive, went through 4 drivers. Would you believe these young tank drivers complained about not reaching the pedals, he was out! Hitting his knees off the armour when changing gear, he was out! Didn't fell safe, he was out! Couldn't work the gear box, he was definitely out! Finally got a guy who fell in love with it and wanted to drive it all the time.

Have a film from the camera they mounted on it during the show which I am battling to change from the VHS format.

But yes Richard an event with all the range of carriers would be fantastic.

Nigel

Default Where is the centre of mass of the carrier world?

With the large number of carriers (21) mustered in Corowa for 'Year of the Carrier' and the 10 we had at 'Wings over Wairarapa' a couple of years before it could be south of the equator in the Pacific!

given the number of new restorations featured on MLU, and the presence of a pair of early Brens in NZ, a Scout and a couple of LP1 in Oz, together with several Mk I universals and Lloyds, not to mention LP2 and LP2A through out the Antipodies, we would just need a MkII universal, a Windsor and a T16 brought south to pretty well have the set.

"Men of Steel" in November 2011 is a possibility, (after the Rugby World Cup)
What do you think Lyn?

Rob
