Interesting. I pulled a set of those rubberized bits out of a 1942 Ford 15cwt quite a few years back. I can't see anyone installing them in a civilianized vehicle after the fact?

If a CMP served into the 60s it was possible that these could have been installed. Just as likely that the civilian owner scrounged up a set for his civilian hunting rifle.
