ID rifle clip and butt holder

1 Attachment(s)
I have these parts: rifle clip plus hard rubber butt holder.

Can anyone tell if these are the right parts for a CMP truck?

I suspect the rubber butt holder was fitted to early CMPs while wooden ones were fitted to later types?

Thanks,
Hanno

I have about the 300th C15 made and it has the wooden butt holders same as the newer ones.

Thanks.

Well that's just great - they were sold as part of a batch of "CMP parts"!

Hanno,
My F8 has the wooden butt holders.

hanno the clips and wooden blocks were the same from at least 1938 till 45, see prototype CMP vehicles , you can see in some of the detail pictures the thick edge wooden version clearly.

I agree that those parts are the M series FN C1A1 rifle holders, or possibly the later C7 (cdn version of the M-16) rifle mounts.

The only variation I have seen to the CMP rifle brackets are that some have leather in the upper mount instead of the rubber coating. I have some of each NOS kicking around the shed. I also have a small stack of repro wooden sockets for the butts.

Interesting. I pulled a set of those rubberized bits out of a 1942 Ford 15cwt quite a few years back. I can't see anyone installing them in a civilianized vehicle after the fact?

If a CMP served into the 60s it was possible that these could have been installed. Just as likely that the civilian owner scrounged up a set for his civilian hunting rifle.

Thanks for all the replies, guys!

The rifle clip and butt holder pictures above are available for exchange against CMP parts.
