Speedometer Cable question

I managed to pickup an original UCarrier speedometer cable and was wondering if the core needs to have grease added to it.

Ive taken it all apart and cleaned up the outside covering but the insides were very clean and free of any grease. My uncle was thinking it should have some grease.

What should it be, grease or not?

DON'T grease that cable...
Dry molybdenum disulphide or graphite only..
Grease attracts dirt and dust and will eventually harden and seize or break and you will be putting in a new one...The cable is designed to spin freely in the sheath..DO NOT Grease..
Grease should only be applied to the OUTSIDE of the sheath to protect it from rust and water..
