In the words of George Frederik Handel " Behold I give to you a mystery"

The Canuck buried at Woombye Cementry in Queensland, is

JOSEPH DERMOTT GREEN DOD 3/3/45

I am obtaining a photo which iI will post here and send to Canadian war graves.

Now this guy does not appear on the Canadian roll, anyone any thoughts.

Thanks

Col

He is on our rolls, Col... it's just that their search engine is flawed. Try this link:

BTW, you can use that link to upload a photo...

A good steer from our supreme leader. Had never considered that the search engine could be faulty.

I have seen the cementry at Adelaide River, and at Perth, have also been on the web site of the Woombye cementry, and wish to advise that all three are lovely places.

The Canucks involved were interned and the graves taken over and are maintained by the Australian war graves people who do a great job.

The reason that David Millers grave stone is different, is because of the harsh conditions in the NT. Like many other places in Australia, including where I live, the lovely white marble ones do not last, and so as they fail are replaced by the one like on David's grave.

Sad because the white ones stand out in normal cementry's, but in the Actual war cementry's like Perth the have a quite dignity, which in my opinion
has a greater impact on the viewer.

Jiff if you release your snail mail address, I will send you a book, which has all the actual war cementry's in it.

24 hours ago I suspected this would be a long and big job, now except for LT/CMDR McCutcheon there are on the internet photos of all, and I expect that shortly we will have him fixed to.

Must be a story about young Green being in that area, as there are over 20 Australian Army guys buried next to him, he amy have been attached with them. The story will come out in due course.

Regards

Col
