Default Canadian War dead in Australia

Some of you may know that my current project is taking photos of every gravestone, of all aliied war dead who are buried down here.

Thought you might like to know that there are three Canadians buried here.

One each in the following areas.

Woombye which is a small country town just north of Brisbane Queensland.

Perth West Australia War Cemetry

Adelaide River war cemetry in the Northern Territory.

It will take a little while to find names etc and perhaps even longer to get the photos taken, but as it is extreemly likely that your war graves people do not have photos, we can get them put in place.

Regards

Col

Thanks guys for both your help and comments. The task in Tasmania alone is a big one, but one I feel strongly on and is well worth the effort.

Like every thing else to do withn the government, there appears to be much slackness in the record keeping, but already I am seeing help coming from the AWG people and these photos are already appearing on the CWG photo site.

Got to admire the efforts of the volunteers in the UK, who travel all over Europe, recording all the allied graves they can locate.

Regards

Col

The guy who is buried at Woombye is a bit of a mystery, as this appears or is it, well off tracks the Canadian guys took.

Good morning!

Of the three names given to me, Joseph Green Dermott does not appear to come up on the Canadian Roll.

Could be for any of many reasons, and I have asked the Canucks to advise on what they find.

In the mean time Tony you might to check that I have the spelling correct, and perhaps your source of info.

Once I have the spelling 100% correct I should be able to search the records at the cementry, and have the photo taken.

Tony the story source for Miller, sort of hints that the guys in 1999, also performed cermonies at other Canadian graves, of which there is a total of three.

Thanks for your help guys

Col

In the words of George Frederik Handel " Behold I give to you a mystery"

The Canuck buried at Woombye Cementry in Queensland, is

JOSEPH DERMOTT GREEN DOD 3/3/45

I am obtaining a photo which iI will post here and send to Canadian war graves.

Now this guy does not appear on the Canadian roll, anyone any thoughts.

Thanks

Col
