Thare is a member on the AULRO forum "lebanon" where he lives who was introduced to the AWM photo archive.
He merged a 1940 image of an underpass on the Beruit to Tripoli railway (built by Australian Engineers) with one taken recently (the location is near his home)  He had promised to do more but none so far. The entire thread has some interesting images (displayed direct from the AWM) if you haven't seen them on the AWM site. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-ch...on-1939-a.html Like a troop of carriers travelling the coast road from Beirut to Tripoli in 1941:
