Then and Now, Leningrad Blockade 1941-44
Some interesting photo collages, showing same view in two timeframes.

Thanks for that Tony. Amazing that he could get things exactly the same in size and scope. It was also interesting to see a sign in English.

Thare is a member on the AULRO forum "lebanon" where he lives who was introduced to the AWM photo archive.
He merged a 1940 image of an underpass on the Beruit to Tripoli railway (built by Australian Engineers) with one taken recently (the location is near his home) http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...s/IMG_7743.jpg He had promised to do more but none so far. The entire thread has some interesting images (displayed direct from the AWM) if you haven't seen them on the AWM site. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-ch...on-1939-a.html Like a troop of carriers travelling the coast road from Beirut to Tripoli in 1941: http://static.awm.gov.au/images/coll...EEN/020033.JPG |
