Default You see the strangest things in Scrapyards

These pics of a Ford F15 in a Sydney scrapyard were sent to me. If you look closely, in the pile of scrap you can just make out a Ford F15.

While obviously not a restoration candidate (unless you're a Masochist), there would seem to be some salvagable bits in there:

Default Ford?

Hi,
I'm no expert but that looks like an inline six, ergo a Chev?

It's a retrofitted engine. Looks like a Ford radiator, so there's been some sort of mod done to make all that work.

I was hoping that someone might have commented about that framework on the back. If you let your imagination run riot, you can see that they have used the axle hub of a CMP as the pivot point for "5th wheel" arrangement for some apparatus. The drum on the back could be a hydraulic reservoir?

I was thinking along the lines of a Peter's Bros crane, but the framework doesn't look like the "Inter W9" size crane:

And not the same as the "CGT" size crane:

Anyone going to salvage any parts from it ? or has it already gone ?

I wouldn`t mind the axles and the side steps .

Rick kindly salvaged the front and rear axles for me as well as the (modded) radiator and a couple of other small parts.

Here's the rear axle:

Default And the front

Beautiful, aren't they?

Unfortunately the rest has gone as far as I know. I may have some surplus parts if you need though.

Default Gas axe murders

I understand the need for speed that the scap merchants have and admit that heat does a wonderful job of loosening parts, but it still hurts to see potentially useful parts sliced up like the rear springs were. Of course, if we really cared as much as we keep saying, we would be running specialized CMP parts yards and going broke quickly because the collectors don't want to pay much for the parts.

Yes, I noticed that. Apparently the yard worker did that as it was easier and faster than cutting the U-bolts. They may as well have kept the springs for all the use they are now, but OH&S prevailed. They way I see it is at least something was saved for a new life.
