I don't have a Fan extension , Do I need one? I have the reg civilian set up motor parts what is the purpose of the extension, I have the same motor as Jordans with the water pumps up front, if that helps explain anything.

IF you had the correct radiator and IF your motor was mounted in the rigt place, and IF you had the right motor, and IF it was working hard, it would overheat. The fan eextention puts the fan in the correct location with the shrouds to best cool your motor. The carrier motor is fully enclosed, the air flow is through the radiator , and out through the square holes in the rear of the hull. It takes a bit to move the air through there and although the original fans sometimes break, they are probably the most efficient at doing it, without bastardizing your carrier. So yes get youyrself a fan extention.

It is the right motor, it is the rite Rad for the motor, engine mounts are off i'll give you that, this type rad is in a 1934 pickup with this type of motor and didn't have a Cowl witch this rite motor and rad came from, But this rad was a backup generator motor in a ware house, So this motor didn't see the lite of day since 2003, its more a Vintage Motor than yours, I tell you that Homie. But I will get a fan extension just to use it as a paper weight. just a thought LYNN Whats it like haveing MORE sheep than Women on you ISLAND! LOL

Default Fan Shroud

Anyone have or know where I can find a fan shroud for the original MkI radiator. Everything is still original as to engine placement, fan, radiator, etc. but isn't going to cool well enough without a shroud. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ross

I ran my first carrier for years with no fan shroud, no rad cap either for that matter. Never had a problem.

The carrier system was set up for heavy duty use. There is a wide margin of safety built in for what we use them for, the occasional parade or sunday drive.

Kind of funny seeing Big Mike's name still on this board. Haven't heard hide nor hair of him in quite some time.

I believe the shroud is important. I dont know where you live but, the carrier is about four ton. It has to suck the air down the ducting , through the radiator, and then stuff it out through those two holes in front of the rear axle.If you put in a rebuilt motor, you may be up against it, if you dont have every thing in place. I think you are right to make the effort.
Sorry Rob. I,m not trying to poke you in the eye
