I am building a 1/35 scale model of an Aussie CMP tipper and was wondering what the circled cleats are for? There are 4 sets of two along each side on the dump body.
Cheers Cliff ![]() Pic 2 the model thus far. |

Cliff at a guess I would say these are for the hoops that would hold up the canvas to allow the truck to have another role .

Thanks for the reply Jim but I don't think that is what they are for as they are large (4 in wide X 2 inch deep) whereas the hood bow mounts are normally round and smaller.
But on thinking about it and studying some pics I have in more detail you may be right. I have been thinking of something sliding into the cleats but they may well be spacers for hood bow clamps to attach to so that they clear the angled lip at the top of the tipper body. so rather then clamps/cleats etc they are in fact spacers......hmmmmm thanks again Cheers Cliff ![]() Last edited by cliff; 09-01-06 at 10:02. |

Cliff,
At first, Great model! I think you have done a very nice job so far! Could it be they were some sort of clamps to insert walls to raise the sides and therefor increasing the loading volume? or to insert benches, like on a GMC cckw dumptruck? ![]() source: http://community.webshots.com/album/170727114FehJvE regards, Alex Last edited by Alex van de Wetering; 09-01-06 at 15:09. |
