Stirrup water pump question
I recently picked a stirrup pump for water and noticed it has the markings "C D" and "D N H" stamped on the handle.
Would anyone possibly know or be able to direct me to what these letters stand for? Thanks Walter |

Walter,
Any idea where this pump was manufactured and when? Different commonwealth countries had different names ( and initials ) for what was basically the same department. However CD would seem to refer to Civil Defence, which I think was used unchanged in all these countries.

No idea of place of manufacture.
There are no other markings on it that I can see. The entire piece appears to be made of brass and painted over in red paint with no hose on it. I picked it up from a garage sale in Saskatchewan,Canada and the person I got it from had bought it at an auction sale, also in Saskatchewan, Canada. He knew nothing more about it. He thought it was an air pump until after I had bought and paid for it, and I explained it to him. I do not have access to a camera at this time so cannot put a picture of it up. Thanks Walter |
