Folks,
Want to buy a Mk1* carrier 6V generator for my carrier. I have just found out via a growler, that the armature in my generator is definitely unserviceable. Cannot find a rewind shop to rewind the armature in Western Canada. Do not know of one in Eastern Canada that does rewinds these day. Now looking to find a serviceable replacement generator. If you have a carrier generator for sale, please let me know thru a private message please. Thanks, Doug |

The link is for motor re-winders in your province. They are more the industrial type, but I am sure if you beg nicely someone can fix you up. Won't be cheap though...you would likely be better off buying a complete generator if you can find one. The part number for the carrier armature is strictly carrier. Too bad because everything else toward the back of the generator from there is all commercial. |

You are right. I have found all the parts to rebuild the generator except the armature. If I can find another complete carrier generator, I would buy it. Hoping someone will part with one. Doug |

There are also instructions on the internet about re-winding your own armatures. Maybe you can desolder the wiring and isolate the offending section, then only rewind that one section.

I had a lot of luck with some antique tractor forums. Seems some tractors used the same style of generator as the UCarrier.
One site I found had some great pictures of a guy that redid his armature. If I can find the link I'll post it up.

Thanks for helping out. Will look forward to your reply. I know that a 8N,9N Ford tractor generator field coil has the same part # as the carrier generator. It would be great to find a armature that would work now. Doug Oh, Darn near forgot -Thank you for your help Scott. I have been monitoring that section of E Bay as well. |
