inner windshield frames
I was looking at Phil Waterman site with regards to the inner windshield frames, I know his plans are for a 12 cab, would anyone have plans for a 13 cab or could someone measure one for me.
I went to our local MLVW compound where several are going for scrap metal and asked for a few inners and had six delivered to my office. So the plan is to make a new set using them...Any ideas? Thanks Jason |

Jason.
As can be imagined, this topic has been covered several times, this is one thread that comes to mind : http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ghlight=frames A search of this forum should bring up more. (Got half way through making them and put it in the too hard basket.) Rich.

Are all Pat 13 Windshield Frames Interchangeable?
Hi Jason
If you don't find the dimensions you need, I happen to have the windshield frames for my HUP off the truck at the moment and will measure up what you need. What I am not sure of is are all Pattern 13 windshield frames inter-changeable? Cheers Phil

Hey Phil,
I would take you up on your offer if you dont mind just the same. I have nothing to go by short of one rusted channel with the hinge. I am going to do some searching today for the sizes, but anything you can do would be great. Jason |

Will measure
Hi Jason
I'm off to our clubs summer rally today, but I've put a reminder on my computer calendar to remind me to measure them up next week. Cheers Phil

Jason
I needed to build one for my first 12 cab Ford CMP. I aquired M37 inner frames, similar to 2-1/2 ton etc M series like you have. I made a simple 3/4" plywood jig /template using an original frame on loan. I simply place the frame on the piece of plywood and used a bunch of strategically placed woodscrews to locate the corners, angles etc. I cut and fit the M series frame work into place and when I was happy I tack welded the pieces. With a fragile frame constructed, I removed it and had a friend TIG weld all the seams for me. The M series frames require some mods like removing the brackets, rivets etc but make an excellent choice. BTW, I had to construct the center part of the frame from some flatbar and appropriate machine screws. I went to an auto glass place to have the glass put in.

Parts...... and more parts.....
Hi Jason
It has always been my firm belief that you cannot do a CMP with only one truck..... you always need a few spare parts trucks to cannibalize..... If you have received 5 or six old CMP windshield frames you will notice that all the bottoms are usually rusted while the tops are relatively good...... you should have enough channel parts to rebuild a set for yourself..... uncle Bill H. should be able to help you out with measurements. Here is another lead you may wish to pursue...... only one condition.... if you go to see the trucks you must take pictures for MLU..... Late last May while raiding the East coast, I was approached by a chap when refuelling just outside of Fredericton.... he claims that a friend had a couple of CMPs.... from what he described cab 13..... one bad shape one fairly complete..... you may want to contact him.... the email address he gave me got wet and smudged so was not able to contact him by email.... however he left me his business card.... Call EMS....Electric Motor Servise, 556 Bishop Drive in Fredericton.... 506-458-8770 ask how you can get in contact with "Billy Fitzgerald" Service Technician..... remember that buying a whole rolling parts truck is far cheaper than buying individual parts..... In regards to your other enquiry about the reinforcement ribs inside the cab 13 back wall....... if you cannot find some originals we can probably help you out... Say "HI" to uncle Bill ....... be nice to him ....he can be a tremendous resource. Boob ...from the barn

Its not that bad..or so i think but most people thought i was crasy when i did the GPW also, there rear is bad but its all there, and engine runs...but really needs work.
I bought a reproduction manifold, it was cast wrong and then all the holes were drilled out larger, tryedto get my money back but the fellow wouldent do it. So ya still in need of a manifold, that was what some of the guys on here was poking fun at a week ago,I have a 41 slat grill in the works , the 43 ford in the picture, a 52 cdn m-38 and now the Cmp...prolly more than whats needed...lolKeeps me out of the house. |
