Default Bren Carrier Parts for Sale or Trade

Good morning, my name is Richard and I am part of a team that is restoring the Huntsville Legion Mk II Bren Carrier that was donated to the Legion by the late Robert Boothby of Dwight. When donated, the Bren was operational but it was stored outside and after 23 years, it became extremely weathered. While we have limited access to funds to purchase replacement components and additional hardware, we do have a 2nd Bren Carrier that was donated to us. We would like to sell or trade components from the 2nd carrier to refurbish the Legion's carrier such that it can be returned to the Legion for use in Canada Day celebrations and various local Rememberance Day parades.
I have attached some pictures of the 2nd Bren Carrier and if anyone has any interest in acquiring various track, idler and drive wheels, steering components, shifter mechanisms, differential, transmission and engine components, please contact myself through MLU or at compal@vianet.ca.
Thanks,
P.S. - I'm new to MLU forums and I am just getting the threads and attachments figured out.

I'd be interested in the track, running gear and sprockets. Can you post up some more pictures. Any pictures from the back end.

Default Rear End Shots

Jordon,
Thanks for your reply. Here is a shot of the rear and a close up of the running gear. Let me know if you need any more information. Any idea where I can find the hull # location?

Gauges and passenger seat please do you have any close ups of the gauges ? and i take it the seat mechanisms are the original ones, i cant tell from the photo's hull number is located on the rearmost gunners side side angle bar which would have held the rear armour on the number is stamped into this angle bar roughly between the first two rivets which hold it onto the track guard.... hope this helps

also would like the parking brake assembly (handle, base and rods) possibly fuel tanks if they are original.... i would have to ship them all back to the UK so would need a bit time to arrange courier

Default Gauges and Pass. Seat

RichardT - unfortunately, the original gauges were ripped out along with the IP panel. The passenger seat is just an old chair. the driver's seat (lower assembly) is intact. Let me know if there is anything else that you might be interested in and I can send a picture.

Hi Richard, I'm interested in the transmission (complete with the shift lever on the top cover and guide bracket for the shift lever), the speedometer drive gear with housing (screwed in the adapter right behind the transmission) and speedometer cable if still in Carrier. Thank you, Marc van Aalderen

Anything left? How many hours did that take? Put me down as second or third in-line for the engine, tracks, bogie wheels and steering wheel. Phil

Default Not much left: Bren Carrier parts for Sale

To all;

Thank you for the overwhelming response to our Carrier parts for Sale request. Most of the salvalgable components have now been spoken for. I plan to take detailed pictures of each component and attach corresponding parts manual diagrams to confirm exactly what components each individual is looking for. As a team, we will then create and return email a fair quote, plus shipping charges. Financial transactions will be handled through Pay Pal.
This carrier has been donated to our restoration cause and all of the proceeds will go towards the restoration of the Legion carrier and the creation of a suitable enclosure. We are accountable to the Legion executive and we need to keep all transactions fair and above board.
If individual deals fail to finalize, I will contact the next person on a list of potential buyers that I am tabulating.
We hope that these components help in getting more Carriers back on the road!

Cheers - Richard

Hi Richard
Could you take and send me some good quality photos of the carrier with the roof! In my last Volume of carriers I am puting in photos of carriers that were converted after the war and put to use in other ways. I thought this one would fit into this. Any idea what it was used for? I will also credit you for the photograph in the book.
If you could take photos at 300 resolution and save as a .tiff or .gif file.

Did you get my reply re where to find the carrier id numbers?

Thanks
Nigel Watson

The overhead roof, all around seating with back rests and open superstructure, plus the geographic location tell me this was a deer hunting camp runabout. The older, less mobile, more hung over or otherwise less able hunters would be driven to their posts while more agile hunters drove the game towards the line. This tactic works well when there are lots of shooters. It is much less common today, with the popularity of tree stands and still hunting.
