Default Ww2 vehicle stowage boxes

Can anyone identify these metal boxes.
They are from an regional city in Queensland Australia where there were up to 60 000 US Troops Stationed during the Pacific campain. A camp site existed about 8 klm from my property and I believe an artillery unit was stationed there, I was told some equipment was recovered many years ago including a damaged Boyes.

Under the white paint is standard WW2 army green. they have captured nuts on some mounting holes and the doors are hindged piano type. While I say Top, Rear etc they could have been mounted in any orientation, the divider has about a 1/3 round fold to provide strength so I assume the way it is standing is top or bottom
You can still see the 3 mounting frame positions across them and that side is flanged. It looks as though the mounting could be like a folded fuel tank mount type.
