Non CMP question
Just a long shot but does anyone know how to age old number plates, I found this one up the padock while mustering last week. It's amazing how long something can lie around unnoticed. It has been found previously as it has a bullet hole in the middle.

Thanks for the link Paul 1937-1951 fits with my wild guess what the plate came off. There is an old Summit chassis in that paddock that had been used as a trailer to cart a saw bench on. My Grandfather had a couple of Summits in the late 30's-40's one on the road and another as parts.

The NSW plate you found dates from 1937 to 51 In 1937, letters in numberplates were first introduced, using a AA-000 to ZZ-999 series. This ran until 1951 with the "NSW" insert on the top of the plate. It is the beginning of Page embossed dies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle...s_of_Australia It could also be from a motor bike ... throws a spanner into it . Mike

Bob that is a nice car, the one Grandfather drove had springs the full length of the chassis. I saw a restored one in the Birdwood museum 17 years ago.
I know it's shoddy work Howard but the ute is only used to drive from the house to the bus stop and is restricted to 20kph.

Euan, Vicki and I bought the ute new in 94 and retired it to paddock work when it had more than 300,000 K's. When a ball fell out of the cv joint while carting water in the drout I gave it to the boys to drive to the bus as a two wheel drive. The rest of the balls fell out while cornering and the shaft droped out, when Sam straightened up the shaft jamed the wheel and the ball joint snaped so my fix was to cut the shaft and weld the joint in place.
hopefully it will last for a fiew months at least.

Using a modified horse or bullock log arch to make a trailer out of a log to move it easier. My brother in law is going to cut bridge decking for me with his portable mill.
