Default engine humber scout car

hallo
I'm new on this forum and I would like to post my first question

In the humber scout car mk I/II the engine that this vehicule uses is a roots 6cilinder 4.085 cc petrole engine. But until now I couldn't find the exact type of this engine even in the drivers manual there isn't any more info about the type of engine
looking out to some answers

Hi,

Not sure what information you are looking for, but the engine is an inline six cylinder side valve type. Also similar to engines fitted in Humber Snipe car, Commer lorries and Humber armoured car.

Perhaps I can explain it what i'm looking with a example " in the leopard 1 the engine is a MTU MB 838 "
This is what I mean with the engine type

OK

Humber described it, in their wartime adverts showing armoured vehicles, as the Super Snipe engine. It was originally made for the Super Snipe car, then adapted for use in Commer and Karrier trucks, Humber Scout and Armoured cars as wll as the smaller Humbers, like the 4x4 utility, recce, staff cars, ambulances, etc. Not normally refered to as a Rootes engine though.

that's a confirmation of what I already started to believe that they used the engine from there car the super snipe.
I must say that in many sources the engine is alway's refered as a roots engine, witch is in facq is the industriele group where humber was part off, but humber did use there proper engines

Just to confirm, it is spelt Rootes. The engine was generally known as the 27h.p. , this was a rating for tax purposes, it was actually about 90 b.h.p.
