The seller hasn't made it too easy to read, has he ? Don't be put off by the "number plate" - That is post-war Belgian style (they still use the same colours but have changed the sequence. I think this one is early 1960s). Rear number plates here are "official" but not the front. I don't think one could get away with hand-painting these days.

The truck is Right hand drive, doesn't look to be cab over engine and the oil grades are British Military. I'm not knowledgeable enough to guess without more information.

I can't tell you what it is ...but I can tell you it is NOT a C-60X...
The drive line configuration is wrong for a C-60X CMP..which is a 6X6 anyway...But a Ford F 60 H it is Not either..
Which is a 6X4,but with two Front drive wheels and two rear drive wheels and a trailing axle.....
What is shown here is a straight tandem drive..
Must be one of those silly "Knocker" or "Bonker" or some other Brit "wrong side of the road" thingies...

Nope, a right side of the road Morris-Commercial CDSW I think.

Don't think so...............look at the location of the steering box. The driving position is higher too, obviously bonneted, might be a Crossley, but definitely not an Austin K6.

Hi Guys,
upon consulting my Data Book of Wheeled Vehicles (third edition) By: T.T.2. Ministry of Supply, there are two candidates, both Morris Commercials. The plate is either for a CDF or a CD/SW, the CDF ran 7.50 x 20 tyres and the CD/SW ran 9.00 x 16. I know it is a styalized drawing and may be somewhat inacurate but the tyres do look more like 9:00 x 16ish. However, there is no WD towing attachment, which the CD/SW did have. Does anyone know whether the CDF had a tow hook?
Cheers,
Dave

Hi,
I knew it was in here somewhere, Mr. Ballard's CD/SW restauration. Search under Morris CD/SW, good images of the chassis, or perhaps a more learned person can create a link to it.
If it is the correct plate for a CD/SW, perhaps someone would be so kind as to inform Mr Ballard, should he need it.
Cheers,
Dave

Dave,

The CDSW and CDF can be ruled out because the steering box on both of these is located on the very front of the chassis member. What it does look like is a CD 30cwt which has a civilian style long bonnet and looking at a photo of one, the angle of the steering wheel would make the steering box behind the front axle as shown on this plate.

I bow to your obviously superior knowledge on these matters, being in the trade as it were, however, might I suggest, as has been stated, that the drawing is stylised and the CD, CDF and CDSW chassis are entirely similar, in the latter case a CD but with "S"ix cylinder engine and "W"inch.

If I may be permitted, it seemed a good idea to consult with the very local Morris people and actually look at the documentation and the chassis in restoration itself, and taking the digital camera seemed a good idea, I see Hanno has already found an image of the very vehicle in restoration.

Perhaps we can consider these two images I will post for consideration, herein the as yet uncleaned lube plate from the local CDSW and I'll post another image directly after this.

All the best

Default M-C Lube drawing.

Here is the second photo taken from the "working" photocopy of the original manual.

I note the various models are covered in the drawing title of V.2612. To my eye this drawing was used to generate the brass plate.

All the best

Thank you Richard,

It would appear that the CD diagram continued to be used for the later models then. I was going by my own books and realising the s/box was behind the axle - I stand corrected
