Default Wow look what flying things here May 21st!

Just spotted a local TV newsclip about this ... don't know that I'll be able to go though but am about to check out the site to see what this is all about and what flying things and people will be here!

A support our vets program blurb from their site: "We - as a nation, and as an individual - should never forget those who gave their lives for our freedom and democracy. At the 2008 Cranbrook Fightermeet Airshow, we seek to honor our veterans. A special campaign "Join the VIPs" is held to collect funds for Veterans. "

Wow Karmen, tres cool! This must be a new venue as I don't remember there ever being an airshow at Cranbrook before. It's too bad they didn't have this when I was living in B.C. as I used to go on my annual spring Black Bear/Grizzly Bear hunt this time of year. Travelling to the Flathead Valley, we used to go right through Cranbrook.

Derek.
Yeah, would love to attend but tickets are $25 plus about $30 each way by taxi to and from the airport so not in this kids budget Oh well.

Cranbrook recently extended its boundaries by 2/3's I think and development plans in the works, but not sure what, the airport is newly expanded and now operational to accommodate bigger planes/international flights and currently working on a contract with Delta airlines I think (USA-Cranbrook flights)

Nice that people will no longer have to travel through Calgary, Vancouver, or Spokane to connect with Cranbrook.

Be interesting to see what Cranbrook will be in a few years. It's growing and changing for sure.

Haven't spotted any black bears or grizzlies in my yard yet

WOW ... two big loud engine planes just flew over my place and dammit all, inside I couldn't see a thing! BTW its very cloudy/overcast today ... might explain the low flying??? The planes arriving and readying for the big show starting tomorrow I guess.

I just saw one!!! I think its the one showing just under the date 21. Looked like the same plane.... flew straight then made a sharp wing dip and a turn towards the airport. How exciting!!!! Guess it's practicing for tomorrow!

Am disappointed I missed seeing the snowbirds flyover us just after lunch,
