Hi
No, there never was a British Memorial Cross. Only us Cdns and the New Zealanders did them up. Ours are still in existence and only the monarch's inits have changed since WW1. Closest thing the British had would be the WW1 issue of Memorial Plaque (sometimes called "death plaques" or "dead man's penny" by the callous). Although any Commonwealth fatality would have one issued to his NOK. Aside from the Memorial Plaque(WW1) and Memorial Cross(WW1 to current), Canada issued a Memorial Bar during WW2. A fine site about Canadian memorial items, by a true Gentleman, can be found here: http://members.shaw.ca/jollytar/memorials/memorials.htm regards Darrell |

Thanks for that site link Darrell. Thats an excellent site covering a topic that alot of people forget about. To me we do more for honoring the individuals that gave their lives during the different wars.

![]() Glad you liked that site. Ed is a decent, hard-working fellow who cares greatly about our military members; past and present. Oh and he's ex-RCN but I have never held that against him!!! ![]() Nowadays we can pick to whom our Mem cross is given. Every Cdn soldier fills out a form denoting what any three (3) persons receive them in the event of our death in service or subsequent death relating to service injuries. No longer is it just Mother/Spouse In my particular case, I had a difficult time choosing as I have a Mom, a Wife and two Daughters. regards Darrell Last edited by Darrell Zinck; 06-02-08 at 00:55.
