Hi Rick,

That sounds like this one I saw while on the 1992 Variety Club Bash from Sydney to Ayers Rock, crewed by members of the Royal Australian Navy, it was also taking part. I thought we were slow, but we never saw them during the day after starting out and they were usually last ones in. It must have been a pig to drive through the bush and desert tracks. I looked in it and the instrument panel was a bit of plywood to the side of the driver!
