I'm fascinated how your discussion evolves.
I have nothing beyond the excerpt from the statistics, maybe my COE assumption is wrong.
Bart Vanderveen writes :
"In 1944 Ordnance ordered 1460 [FWD SU-COE] cargo trucks, followed by 2700 for the prime mover role."
That fits quite well with the LL numbers.
Never saw a conventional SU anyway.
