I have used ACDSee for many years. Between my wife and I we've processed about 35000 pictures over the last few years. I use ACDSee as a management tool to sort and catalogue. It also does good frame captures from video.
Photoshop is still used to correct images and do photo archival work. I have a "test" copy of Lightroom but haven't tried it yet. Maybe I will now and compare the two.
