Try it, you will like it and you will never again at noon have to look outside to determine if it is AM or PM.

I just look out the window to check that:
1. it is the sun and not the moon making the shadows
2. my nieghbour hasn't "borrowed" my sundial stick
3. the shadow is very short.
Then I know it is lunch time.
Do you really need more precision?
This method doesn't need batteries (witness Gunner's experience tonight).
