It would seem to be an Aussie nickname, anyone in Europe, looks mystified if you say "Yankee Joe". Up here they are known as "Bl*ckman's Chev" (censored in the interest of PC).
Of course the GMC CCKW is universally known as the "Jimmy", or "Duece and a half".
