Iltis Nato Trailer plug removal

I saw your post about removing the Nato Plug and was curious as to why you needed to take the wires out to remove it. The M-series vehicle plugs come out quite easily.
I have a wiring harness and body here and measured the diameters of the plug and hole it goes through. German engineering!?
It must be even more difficult to re-install the wires and plug. Good luck and let us know if you find an easy way to do it.
