Why the use of e-pay on threads?

Just a quick question and I may have the answer already but,
" Why do people type e-pay instead of e-bay on their threads?"
Hey, I've even typed it when I first started posting thinking maybe you have to. But then I stopped and now use e-bay. Is it so search engines cannot latch onto the threads? Or is it a no free endorsement belief?
I just don't want to be pissing anybody off here.
