Default 11D

This is an odd one . At first glance it appears to be another 01Y or a 11Y , it is in fact a 1941 11D .

It has 16" car based wheels , the wheelbase is the same, 122" as the 11Y , but Ford made them as a 15 cwt or 3/4 ton chassis with the smaller car pattern wheels , and called it the D model .

I owned one if these in 1987-91 , I had a bugger of a time finding a spare wheel cos they are wider that the normal Ford car rim . They have 7/50 X 16 tyres .

I got it registered down in Tasmania , where I was living then . It had horrid steering . I drove it to the cop shop and they said to take it to Devonport to register it, no permit , no insurance nothing . That was Tasmania then .
