I didn't prod. He was as surprized as I was when he told me the story. He'd only ever told some of his closest military buddies about it until me, and then very few did he talk except for those who were with him then. Now it's easier for him to talk of some of it with a very select chosen few. Thats very good news and shows healing. I can understand the mixed feelings recipients of these honours might feel.
