Default aiming post

I have a description in a handbook for the vickers from 1930:

"Post, zero, M.G., Mark I
The post is of iron, 3 feet long and 1/2 an inch in diameter. The upper end is formed as a ring 4 inches in diameter, the lower end being pointed."

I then measured up the location of the brackets on the carrier, and from memory the sleeve at the rear is just over 4 inches high, so the ring must be 4 inches outside diameter.
