- Tracing an individual vehicle's history is very difficult, next to impossible really. - As for restoration, how far back to authentic do you want to go? The diesel engine should be replaced by a GMC 270 cu.in. engine, basically the same as in the ubiquitious GMC CCKW truck of WW2 vintage. Not a problem finding one of these. The rear body, including the floor, needs to refabricated as the chance of finding a spare one is virtually nil - it's very often missing from trucks who have had a hard life in civvy street. If you are a good machinist, everything is possible, also because it's constructed mainly from flat plate. A huge job, that's for sure. Maybe just leave it and enjoy it as it is? Regards, Hanno
