Default Where the heck are the WOMEN???

Hi All,

Well ... very few women post in here, and I know that many of you all have partners ... I love it when EM and KATHY and others post in here ... and feel very outnumbered by all the men, although I do love the conversations and knowledge, and the laughter. This is a great community and I really would like to enjoy more "women" input ...

You's guys, stop scaren' them away???

I also realize that this is very much a "guys" place for the most part ... but every time another woman posts in here, it adds a lot to the forum.

I hope you women browsing (I know you do ) will jump in here and post sometimes.

Otherwise, I may pack my wee bittie bags for loneliness for the input of other women and toddle off into the wild blue yonder ... !

I talk with a lot of women regularly but not in here ... more women please.

Karmen sends.

Default Women on Military Equipment

Well my chosen hobbies are all devoid of women. I hunt, ride dirt bikes long distances, and collect and restore military vehicles. Women are few and far between, I put this down to society dictating the learning path for young ladies that leads to a total lack of Mechanical Empathy.
Women will ride a horse in the bush long distances because they are taught to care for them just like babies. Blokes just don't care and want the bloody thing to go and NOW, no stuffing around.
It is a shame I cant share the joy of my latest find with the missus, whose only comment is your not brinigng that "thing" home.
I have a mate whose wife was brought up by a very commited collector farther. The lucky bastard gets sex every time they find a new toy in a farm shed. He reckons he married to his best mate. For the rest of us unlucky fellows who married a pretty bit of skirt we just have to sneak the toys home.

I hope to break the cycle that society has created, I have a 3 month old girl who I have taken to placing a toy jeep in her play ring. Of course the wife keeps taking it away but I will persist.

Understood, mate, been there done that. It's just the way things have evolved, indeed, an evolution of the male-dominated military society. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know I've taught the women in my life to shoot (and they're damned good at it when they get into it) and I wouldn't hesitate to let them behind the wheel in my vehicles. I guess, though, that our mechanical obsession with these old 'wusty twuks' tend to override 'traditional' family values. My ex's never understood that either.

Well, I am supremely blessed with a wife who not only tolerates my passion for militaria collecting but also helps me with oil changes and such on the Chev CMP.

Her, being a black powder shooter at one time, understands and empathizes with the trials and tribulations of todays legal target shooter/collector.

Bless her heart.

Mark..

I have two daughters ..a year apart...
When they started university I bought them both cars..
The oldest girl has exceptional mathematical and memory retention skills and speed reads a computer screen as fast as you can hold down the scroll button..It is amazing to watch..
Her mechanical skills are not noteable...but she does look after her cars by having them serviced when required..
My other daughter is a mechanical wizzard..Has been very familiar with my great roll around tool box and any other mechanical devise I own ...The first car I bought her was a '83 Honda Civic..semi automatic ,from an older lady that never drove it...I had 50,000 KM at 15 years of age..
Anyway It needed brake service one summer day so we started at it..I showed her how to jack it up,install the jack stands ,pull the wheels, strip the brakes(Discs front..shoes back) and repack the wheel bearings..and then put it all back together..I not only explained the proceedure but why I did what I did...
I did the drivers side, front and back..and let the car down and she did the passenger side ,by herself, with me hovering and watching ,but not telling her what to do but offering guidance when she asked..I had only to stop her a few times when she was going astray, but only to give her a verbal hand..
It took us most of the day but I was in no hurry and Becky was as pleased as punch when she and I took it for a test drive..
When it worked so well ,she was really pleased with her self...
For me it was one of the highlights of my life ,to spend quality time with my kids..
Another time in Montreal (she was driving a Toyota that sometimes wouldn't fire when it was damp or raining...)..
She jumped in the car, fired it up and it wouldn't start..She knew that if it didn't start right away,it was wet and wouldn't start with out a dose of ignition spray..So she jumped out grabbed her screw driver out of her glove box and her trusty can of ignition spray..popped the hood , pulled the distributor cap off the dist..gave it a spray ..put it back together ..closed the hood ..jumped back in the car and fired it up..
This all happened in about 3-4 minutes..
She was late for work and she said ""dad..when I fired up the old Toyota and took off the crowd that gathered on the side walk were so shocked they cheered!!"

The moral of the story is children can be what ever they want to be ,with enough encouragement from the old folks...
It has paid off for me..My girls are my pride and joy..

Well ... I'm not a natural Queen Bee then ... I am an eccentric one as I think all Bees should be Queens ,,, and Kings. the King's have to invite their Queen's and make the environment Queen Bee friendly or they'll just go away , after stinging you Ma

Thanks Jif...
I appreciate that...My girls are georgeous...They get their looks from their mom...They get their smarts from both of us...

My mechanical wizzards favourite toy was my 1/4" socket set in its little metal box..I don't know how many times I found it in the sand box..
