It sure reminds me of a rather young Staff Sgt in the 1960s climbing a Triumph motorcycle up that slope in a race with others of the same ilk. Yep...you got it right...the bullpen driving course.

The base has gone environmentally nuts recently...absolutely none of what we did back then is allowed. All training area entrances are now gated and keys controlled by Range Control.

Can't even go joy riding in the sand dunes out by Pylon Hill...so just where does the military get to teach water fording, deep sand operation, hill climbing, etc?

Jeez, even the marine drive was removed from the beloved Grizzlies...of course swimming would now be banned anyway, because of the potential for fluid leaks.

Go ahead...age me...but I miss the "good ol' days". Sigh.
