Below are a couple of pictures of ground equipment from an old book RAF In Action printed in 1940. Book is interesting because of having been written and published so early in the War. Lots of early aircraft photos as well.

I will send Larry a picture of my 1943 RAF Fordson tractor that hauled fuel to the Halifaxes and Lancasters .Hope he can post it for me as I have a problem posting .pictures .This tracter was brought to Canada after the war from UK and when I got it I have been looking for another one like it but no luck .I have a picture of one with the fuel wagon .It has a very hi speed gear in it so as to get off the runway fast when the planes were comming in .

Your RAF Fordson would have been the industrial version that did have high gear ratios for road work. Looking forward to seeing a pic of it.

Thread slowed down a bit.
I have a friend who recently purchased a 1/76 scale model of what is described as a WWII Karrier Bantam with box body. I know it existed in MK1 and MK11 versions but have been completely unable to find any photos of same. Anyone can help maybe?? Thanks Bill

Les the WW2 photo shows an interesting version of diruptive camo on the right hand vehicle, possibly a Bedford QL. I have seen that style on army trucks but not RAF. I wonder if this MT section was for 2nd TAF or for vehicles used on RAF Stations?

Dear Tony,
I once saw a Fordson WOT like yours at Thruxton in the 1980s at an MV show. It was painted in army green and black stripes with white stars. Is it your vehicle this one? What year was yours built by the way?

This is an interesting thread, i bought a Fordson WOT 3 for spares this year for a carrier rebuild but its to good to break. I have decided to sell it in January as i have enogh projects on the go. it seems to be correct right down to the same wheels as shown in the instruction book i have. its missing the rear body, front bumper and steering wheel. I will post some photos in a bit ----- any one interested in a nice 1940 project ????
