Well its East Anglia:

taken on a back road just south of Briston looking at the map.

East Anglia was of course covered with airfields and it looks like a RAF uniform.

The photo is a little over contrasted but we can fix that, looks like a hand-change, side-valve single and the silencer is typical of a Sunbeam. Ballard snr would know but he's just gone home; I'll have him look later.
