Hi Bob.

Many years ago, I recall seeing an article in car magazine of somebody taking a perfectly good vintage Rolls and dropping a Merlin engine into the front of it, for absolutely no other reason than both items had been made by the same company.

Default Merlin car

Are you thinking of this car?

An article with a bit more history of the car.

If the concept of a huge engine in a wheeled vehicle appeals to you, be sure to check out the several Jay Leno Garage videos that show off his collection of gas guzzling beasts. He even has a "car" with a Continental 1790 engine in it!
All of these are "labour of love" vehicles increasingly impractical in these days of high fuel costs. Still, check out the craftsmanship in some of Lenos cars and you will be truly impressed.

Default Must be nice to have money......

.....but it does not guarantee happiness.......Jay is reported to be setting up a special trust fund to look after his wife with early signs of dementia in case he gets to go first and she would be saddled with all those wonderful cars.......

........something about a long long hood....a huge noisy engine......smokey, hot and uncomfortable...... that we find appealing....... any sexual connotation is purely in the mind of the reader!!!!!!!

Hi Paul.

Too new in style. What I recall was mid to late 1960's out of the UK somewhere. The Rolls was a classic looking saloon not unlike those used back then by the Royal Family. The article came out at the height of all the competition between the Jaguar V-12 XKE Series 2 and 3 Roadsters and the Corvette Stingray 427 Roadster, just before the dramatic body style changeover in the Corvette.
