Default Here is reply from a Dekco-Remy site....

Never heard of a polarity reversing switch on a CMP but engine in CMP frame was not original 216.......

Thanks guys.

1941-1942 Chevrolet 216. Those years had a reversing switch that changed polarity to the points each time the starter foot pedal was activated. The theory was to prolong point life. After frequent failures the switch was bypassed with a dedicated ground to the plate terminal. Note that points with a different part number are used in that distributor. 7L2 is probably the date code. December (L) 7, 1942

Default Fuel pump with a hand primer pump built in....

Probably civilian market for specialized application such as a standby unit or other static application where the engine may not have been started often.....but it does fit on a 216 engine block.....

I think that I have one of the CMP fuel pumps with metal rather than glass fuel bowl (either at home or the barn) but it definitely doesn't have a priming lever.

Default Gmc cckw

The WW2 GMC CCKW pump has a hand primer and metal bowl, it will fit a Chev 216. But looking on-line, rebuild kits are no longer available and NAPA sells a replacement pump . Part No. AC-429 - no hand primer though.

My C8 has the original 216 engine, I fitted a GMC CCKW fuel pump with a hand primer and metal bowl, I bought the CCKW pump NOS many years ago from Auto Surplus in Mitcham . Holden ( local GM car ) Red motor fuel pump kits might fit the earlier GM AC pumps, being AC brand. Side by side , a Holden fuel pump looks to be identical to a older Chev pump.

You need to find kits that are suitable for modern fuel.

New CCKW pump from the Netherlands.

I’ll dig the parts out in a bit to better show.

The early CCKW and Jeep engines both used a 2 valve fuel pump with primer levers and metal bowls. From my understanding the only difference was the actuating arm that rode on the cam was different. One arm pointed up and the other pointed down. These are the same fuel pump that Chevy used just minus the priming lever. The good news is that the Jeep portion of the hobby has almost everything available to them. Joes Motor Pool products reproduces both the Jeep fuel pump and high quality rebuild kits. The rebuild kits will work with the Chevy 216 pumps.

My Jeep has a fuel pump with the primer and I love it. When the Jeep sits for a time, I can easily give the pump a handful of pump ups and I’ve got fuel right up at the carb. I’ve got an original CCKW fuel pump to rebuild for the Otter project. I also bought a new made fuel pump with the priming lever to fit on my C15A.

Here is the link to Joes Motor Pool fuel pumps. Most of the Jeep parts vendors sell their products as well.

That is useful information. Yes you can buy just about everything for a MB GPW now.

Default Are you saying.......

Hi Jordan.....

Are you saying the rebuild kit for a Jeep fuel pump (Hopefully made with a modern rubber diaphragm) will interchange for rebuilding a CMP Chev pump???

Interesting interchange........ as we all know that the Jeep PCV will fit a CMP and so will the horn rubbing block on the steering shaft....

What else fits a CMP???
