I had the sister to that trailer. If you look at this trailers data plate, it is on an AID-CHI (aid to china) and dated Nov 45, so it's technically a post war trailer.

I still have that trailer, but in modified form which we use to collect firewood from the local forest.

....being used as a rolling frame for a 1000 litres water container....same time period same aid program..... this one sure looks well used!!!!!!!

It is one from the 1945 AID-CHI contract indeed. This is proof that the early 20-cwt trailers had a wooden body, while the late ones were steel.

The AEDB Design Rcord confirms this. When discussing the 20-cwt trailer: "The first trailer bodies were of composite wood and steel construction."
