Default Couple more Photos.....

Well nothing better than a Saturday night with Beer and Brasso! Polished up the brass casing and as per Rob Love's help, it's a German Shell Casing with some trench art. I don't know if it will show very well on the photos but it says "Souvenir From Peronne France". There are no dates on it except the manufacturers on the base (1917). Peronne is in Northern France and was part of the Battle of the Somme. It has a special attachment and memorial to the Australian 2nd Division and is a sister city to Albany Australia. Anyway, I thought I'd share that with the members.
Have a great weekend and cheers Robert

Default 2nd Aust Division Memorial

This was the original 2nd Division memorial near Peronne - a Digger bayoneting a German eagle. For some reason, the Germans didn't like it when they took France in WW2, so it was explosively removed. The post-WW2 memorial is less confronting!
