Default transmissions

Just to add a layer to the conversation, at Sherbrooke Hussars we had a 67 M38A1 (IIRC) which had a longer shift lever than every other 67 or 70. It was just different. I don't recall its performance, but that Jeep had a good reputation, and I can visualize the throw of the shifter in the hand of a good driver.

Is the shift lever a factor in your transmission question?
